Family fun enjoyed at Sinhala Association’s Bakmaha Ulela festivities

A large gathering of the Brisbane community enjoyed the Sri Lankan New Year festivities conducted by the Sinhala Association of Queensland at the Mt Crosby Showgrounds on Sunday, April 18. The Bakmaha Ulela included such traditions as boiling of milk, oil anointing, Sri Lankan cuisine, cross-country races, tug o’ war, music and dancing, Avurudu Kumara and Kumari contests, and other events.
