Invitation for almsgiving at Forest Hermitage to transfer merit to the late Lal Mendis

Posted February 27, 2024

An almsgiving (Dana Pinkama), marking three months since the passing of Lal Mendis, will be offered at the Dhammagiri Forest Hermitage at 10am on March 3.

Lal, who was the Finance Lead of the Federation of Sri Lankan Organisations of Queensland, passed away on December 1, 2023. He was also a past president of the Sri Lanka Sports Association and a committee member of the Sri Lanka Society of Queensland.

Jayantha Pathikirikorale, former president of the FSOQ, encouraged Lal’s friends to give respect and merit to their beloved friend.

“As many of you already know, there are many friends from interstate as well from Sri Lanka who have shown their interest in attending this event to pay respect,” Jayantha said.

“Priya Weerasena will be coordinating the meals for the priests and if you intend bringing a plate, please contact Priya.

“So, together, we could do this meritorious ceremony in memory of Lal who has helped the Sri Lankan community in Brisbane.”

The Dhammagiri Forest Hermitage is at 10 Ben Varden Avenue, Kholo.
