Anzac Day commitment praised

Sri Lankan ex-servicemen and supporters, along with RSL representatives, at the Anzac Day memorial in Brookfield.

A contingent of Sri Lankan Ex-Servicemen’s Association members and representatives of the Federation of Sri Lankan Organisations of Queensland turned out for the Anzac Day parade at the Brookfield Showgrounds on Thursday, April 25.

The annual commemorative event was organised by the RSL Kenmore/Moggill Sub-Branch. More than 8000 people attended.

RSL sub-branch president Rick Maher welcomed the Sri Lankan community’s continued commitment to marching on Anzac Day.

Sri Lanka’s 21st Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral Travis Sinniah, delivered the keynote address.

General Shantha Kottegoda, former Sri Lanka Army commander and former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, participated as an invited guest.
